Youth momentum has been building in the Malankara Syriac Orthodox Church for some time. We are fortunate to have clergy and parents who strive to better let us experience our faith. Our Lord has blessed us -- in only ~ 35 years of existence in North America, we have growing parishes in most major cities.
The Church is excited about employing new technology and methodology to spread its message. Realizing that a new level of ministry is needed to address the issues of young adult hood, our youth leadership came together to commission this website. Its many sections are designed to expose the faithful to the myriad details of Christianity in an engaging, relevant manner. The most prominent section, the Bible study, seeks to powerfully bring God's Word into the minds and hearts of those searching for substance.
We pray that ruho.org will be useful in bringing our community together. As our youth ready themselves to lead the Church into the future, and as our many activities and good works start to bear fruit, it is our ultimate desire that you the reader 'catch our Spirit.' On the most basic level, we joyfully mean the Holy Spirit, Who is knocking at the door of your heart now, waiting to transform your life! Ask Him in by turning your life over to Jesus Christ!
The mission of RUHO.org is fourfold:
Currently, Bible study content is being organized by Susan Jacob, M.D. of Houston and an association of scholars including H.E. Mor Teethose Yeldho, Chorepiscopus Kuriakose Moolayil, Rev. Dr. George Mathews Nalunnakkal, Rev. Fr. Mathai Puthukkunnathu, John Kadavil, Ph.D., several deacons, and seminarian George Aramath. We are trying to match young church leaders with eminent scholars so that together they may create relevant, inspiring messages from the Scripture and our Tradition. We plan on studying the Gospel of St. Mathew in 2006.
The website is being deployed by MGSOSA via a team consisting of Dn. Zach Varghese and a group of regional contacts including Dn. Martin Babu (Southern), George Aramath (Northeast), Jesse Scaria (Midwest), and Jerin Raj (Southeast).
The main challenge to successfully implementing this program is wide participation. One desire is to reach those with whom the Church has not been able to effectively communicate.
These plans are ambitious and require your feedback and help. We ask that you consider participating in the following ways:
Please note that though these endeavors focus upon youth ministry, all are welcome to use the website. We hope each parishioner benefits from this project.
